The sheltie is often wrongfully called a miniature collie, because it closely resembles a collie. Shelties are very intelligent and train easily. They make wonderful companions and are loyal to their owners. They have a double coat, the long haired outer coat for warmth and repelling rain and water, and the soft undercoat for insulating the skin.
